For the third consecutive game, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards carries an injury designation entering a playoff matchup against the Denver Nuggets.
Edwards has been playing through a knee injury, which caused him to miss out on NBA awards eligibility. The former No. 1 pick missed 11 of the Timberwolves’ final 14 regular season games and stated that it will take “about a week” to get his wind back.
Heading into tonight’s Game 3 matchup against the Nuggets, Edwards is listed as questionable. With that said, he carried that same designation in the first two games of the series and managed to play.
Edwards is expected to fight through the pain once again as the Wolves prepare to defend their home floor at Target Center.
Wolves Reveal Plan of Attack Versus Denver
GettyJaden McDaniels stated that the Nuggets are full of “bad defenders” that the Wolves need to expose
After evening the series with an upset Game 2 win, Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels ripped the Nuggets defense. When asking what adjustments were made between the series opener and Game 2, McDaniels stated Minnesota began attacking the Nuggets’ “bad defenders.”
“Go at [Nikola] Jokic, Jamal [Murray], all the bad defenders,” McDaniels said postgame. “Tim Hardaway, Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon, the whole team. Like, just go at them.”
During pre-game shootaround on Thursday morning, McDaniels doubled down on his assessment.
“I’m just ready to play tonight and go win Game 3 for real. It’s whatever, it’s the playoffs so that’s probably why. I’m not tripping. You go on your phone, it’s hard not to see it, but it’s whatever. I said what I said,” McDaniels said.
McDaniels finished Game 2 with 16 points and eight rebounds. Edwards paced the Wolves with 22 points.
Although the team still seemingly has no answer for Jokic, who recorded a triple-double in Game 2, Minnesota is confident in their ability to trade buckets.
Nuggets and T-Wolves Are a Budding Rivalry
GettyAnthony Edwards admits that the Nuggets and Wolves have forged a rivalry in the playoffs
Since 2023, the Nuggets and Timberwolves have met in the playoffs three times.
During their first encounter, the Nuggets defeated Minnesota 4-1 en route to a championship season.
Hungry for revenge, the Timberwolves eliminated the Nuggets in a thrilling seven-game series in 2024.
Prior to their playoff matchup this season, Edwards acknowledged that a rivalry has formed between the two clubs.
“I don’t think there’s anything else to call it but a rivalry… I think there’s a lot of rivalries in the league now. And I think me and Denver is one of them,” he said.
Now, the two sides prepare to do battle once more in Game 3 in Minnesota.
Game 3 will tip-off Thursday, April 23, at 9:30 CT at Target Center. Prime Video will live stream the playoff matchup.
Radio broadcasts are also available via iHeartRadio and the Timberwolves official app.
