An Ex-Mormon Reportedly Made It to Hometown Dates on Taylor Frankie Paul’s Canceled ‘Bachelorette’ Season

As more information comes out surrounding the circumstances of the recent cancelation of Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of “The Bachelorette” on ABC, the details about the suitors cast for season 22 of the show have continued to peak fan interest. Lew Evans is one of those candidates cast on the now-axed season who is drawing attention for his proud stance as an ‘ex-mormon’ and his history as a D1 athlete at the University of Tennessee.

Here’s everything to know about this former basketball star and proud ‘ex-mormon’ – aka ‘ex-mo’ – who allegedly made it all the way to hometown dates.

Lew Evans is identified on the list of contestants for Taylor Frankie Paul’s now-canceled season of “The Bachelorette” as a 32-year-old insurance tech company founder from Salt Lake City, Utah. On his social media accounts, Evans open talks about living in the capital of Utah as an ex-mormon. He frequently references his status as a non-member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints after having been raised in the LDS faith.

As a star of the Hulu reality television series “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” Taylor Frankie Paul has been open about her continued involvement in the LDS church, even having a conversation about being ‘sealed in the temple – aka the marital practice within the LDS faith wherein a couple is considered spiritually sealed together for eternity – with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. The prospective combination of an ex-mormon contestant with Taylor’s roots in the church have made for considerable chatter and debate about how their dynamic might unfold. Unfortunately, even though the season won’t air as intended on March 22, 2026, it seems as though Evans didn’t make it to the final rose – though he did make it to the round of hometown dates!

Status within the LDS church isn’t the only thing drawing distinction between the contestant and would-be ‘Bachelorette’. Lew Evans stands at six-foot-seven-inches, which is a sharp contrast to Taylor Frankie Paul’s petite stature. However, it did make him a standout basketball recruit for the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

Evans first attended a collection of schools where he played collegiate basketball before landing in Knoxville. Beginning at Casper College, then the University of Tulsa and Utah State University for his undergraduate studies, he eventually joined the Tennessee Vols basketball program and graduated from the university with his master’s degree whilst utilizing his final year of athletic eligibility.

It’s reported that Lew Evans and Taylor Frankie Paul had a spark as Evans is said to have made it to the hometown dates and then overnight dates in the canceled season of “The Bachelorette”. However, with the season being canceled by ABC, fans are left without any confirmation of what unfolded during season 22 of the franchise.
