Alabama Football Lands Commitment from 2027 TE Oakley Keegan

Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide football has added another piece to its future 2027 recruiting class.

According to Blake Byler of BamaOnline, Alabama picked up a commitment from 2027 tight end Oakley Keegan, marking the program’s fourth pledge in the cycle.

According to Byler’s report, Keegan earned his Alabama offer from Coach DeBoer while camping in Tuscaloosa last summer. Keegan would, unfortunately, suffer an Achilles tear while at the camp, but that never stopped the pursuit of the Alabama coaching staff.

Alabama Stayed Consistent Despite Injury

Alabama’s persistence despite the injury made a lasting impact on Keegan and his family.

Byler reported that Keegan’s father described the moment of the offer as emotional, noting his son’s excitement despite being limited physically at the time. The family viewed the opportunity as something bigger than the setback, reinforcing Keegan’s belief that everything was happening for a reason.

DeBoer and the Alabama coaching staff continue to show their ability to build lasting relationships even in the less-than-ideal circumstances.

Who is Oakley Keegan?

Keegan has a massive frame, standing at 6-foot-7, 240 pounds. Despite missing his junior season, according to Keegan’s MaxPrep profile, he has 12 career catches for 215 yards and two touchdowns.

The Liverpool, New York native currently isn’t a nationally ranked prospect, but that could change significantly if he can put together a solid senior season.

Byler reports that Keegan is expected in Tuscaloosa for an official visit on the weekend of June 19.

What Oakley Keegan Means for Alabama’s 2027 Class

While the 2027 cycle is still in its early stages, this commitment highlights an important trend for Alabama under DeBoer: relationship-driven recruiting.

Coach DeBoer and Alabama could have easily backed off following Keegan’s devastating injury, but instead, they prioritized his long-term potential over his short-term availability.

Keegan is Alabama’s fourth commitment in the 2027 class, joining quarterback Trent Seaborn, cornerback Nash Johnson, and fellow tight end Colt Lumpris.

What did Oakley Keegan Say About Commitment to Alabama?

When Hayes Fawcett of Rivals announced Keegan’s commitment with his traditional graphic, Keegan put the Bible verse Proverbs 16:3, which reads “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed,” followed by a “Roll Tide”.
