76ers Rookie Announces Personal News Before Rockets Game

With the Philadelphia 76ers‘ 2025-2026 NBA season winding down, one of the rookies, Johni Broome, made a personal move.

According to an announcement, the rookie center has signed with a new agency, WME.

Broome makes an agency change during the final week of the regular season.

Typically, agency changes tend to generate some questions surrounding players, depending on the timing. If a player is in search of a new contract or potentially on pace to ask for a trade, they might switch representatives for a different perspective.

In Broome’s case, it likely doesn’t make a difference.

Broome was one of the most recognizable faces in the NCAA in 2024-2025.

The former Auburn standout was an All-American, SEC Player of the Year, and a 2-time All-SEC winner.

Despite the accolades, Broome still dropped past the first round on draft night last year. When the Sixers went on the clock with the 35th overall pick (2nd round), Broome was selected.

The Sixers signed Broome to a standard deal ahead of his rookie season with the team.

According to Spotrac, Broome could earn $8.6 million over four years. The fourth season (2028-2029) is a $2.7 million team option. The 2027-2028 season isn’t guaranteed salary until January 10, 2028.

During his rookie effort, Broome has appeared in 11 games with the 76ers.

The rookie saw the court for an average of 5.0 minutes across those games. He shot 16.7% from the field and averaged a little under one point. He also came down with 1.5 rebounds per game.

Broome played a lot with the Sixers’ G League team, the Delaware Blue Coats. During the G League regular season, Broome appeared in 18 games. He produced averages of 22.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game.

The rookie made 46.4% of his shots from the field.

Broome’s rookie season ended prematurely. The rookie suffered a knee injury on February 21 during a G League matchup. He needed surgery, which led to the Sixers ruling him out indefinitely. Although the Sixers didn’t confirm that Broome is done for the season, that seems to be the case.
