76ers’ Kelly Oubre Sends Cryptic Message Before Bulls Game

The Philadelphia 76ers are working on getting healthier as the postseason inches closer. One post from the standout Kelly Oubre seems to suggest he’s making good progress as he remains on the injury report.

On Tuesday night (March 24), Oubre made a post on his Instagram story, which you could probably file under the cryptic category.

Along with the photo he posted, Oubre wrote “Soooooooonnn” as the caption.

Oubre last appeared on the court for the Sixers during their March 10 matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The veteran checked in for 37 minutes and shot 10-24 from the field to produce 30 points. He had a double-double on the night with 12 rebounds added to his stat line.

Before the Sixers entered their next matchup, the team announced that Oubre suffered a sprained LCL in his left elbow.

When the team released the initial update, Oubre was expected to be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks. March 25 became a key date, which makes the timing of the post much more interesting.

Going into the Wednesday, March 25, matchup against the Chicago Bulls, the Sixers have a crowded injury report.

As expected, Johni Broome, Tyrese Maxey, and Oubre have all been ruled out well in advance. One name that’s noticeably absent is the veteran forward, Paul George.

After getting suspended for 25 games, George was officially cleared to make his return in Wednesday’s game. Barring any unexpected setbacks, he’s going to play against the Bulls on Wednesday.

Joel Embiid remains on the injury report, but he’s been upgraded to questionable. For the past month, Embiid has been recovering from an oblique strain. The veteran center has been making positive strides in his recovery, but he still seems to be on a day-to-day timeline.

Aside from Embiid, the Sixers listed the veteran Quentin Grimes on the injury report as well. He is dealing with an illness, which popped up ahead of Monday’s action against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Grimes could return as early as Wednesday.

Before Oubre went down, he had 41 appearances on the year. The veteran forward had started in 36 games, seeing the court for 32.4 minutes per matchup.

Over that stretch, Oubre shot 46.3% from the field and drained 36.1% from beyond the arc. He averaged 14.7 points, along with 4.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists.

The Sixers are heading into their Wednesday night game with a 39-33 record. They are 1.0 games behind the Atlanta Hawks, who have control of the sixth seed. The fifth-seeded Toronto Raptors have a 1.5-game lead over the Sixers.

Philadelphia doesn’t have a guaranteed ticket to the playoffs, but the final stretch of games will go a long way.
