49ers, John Lynch Named Contender to Pull Off Big Trade

The San Francisco 49ers and general manager John Lynch have been receiving a lot of backlash for what many perceive to be a poor 2026 NFL Draft class.

Lynch has been accused of reaching on multiple picks. Fans are frustrated due to his track record in the draft.

No final conclusion about the 2026 draft class can be made for at least a couple of years. However, it’s clear that fans are concerned about the team heading into the upcoming season. Lynch could help his case by making post-draft moves.

Keeping that in mind, the 49ers have been named a top contender to pull off a major post-draft trade to address the defensive secondary.

49ers Named Top Potential Trade fit for Kenny Moore II

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox has taken a look at the 2026 NFL offseason trade block big board following the draft. When it came to Moore, he had San Francisco as one of the top two suitors.

The other team mentioned as a fit was the Cleveland Browns.

“Moore will turn 31 in August but played reasonably well in 2025, allowing an opposing passer rating of 87.8 in coverage,” Knox wrote. “He’d be a sensible target for teams that failed to add a corner early in the draft.”

Moore has had a very successful NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts. He is considered by many to be one of the top nickel cornerbacks in the league. The 49ers would be wise to consider bringing him onboard to bolster their secondary.

During the 2025 NFL season with the Colts, Moore played in 14 games. He recorded 55 tackles to go along with two forced fumbles, an interception, a defensive touchdown, and six defended passes. In his 132-game career, Moore has totaled 649 tackles, 11.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 21 interceptions, four defensive touchdowns, and 67 defended passes.

What Would It Take for San Francisco to Acquire Moore?

Not only did Knox suggested San Francisco as a top trade suitor for Moore, he also gave a projected asking price that it would take to acquire him from Indianapolis.

Knox believes that a 2027 sixth-round pick could get the deal done.

Assuming that is the asking price, the 49ers should have zero hesitation. They need help in the secondary and Moore is one of the best at what he does. Should Lynch find a way to acquire him, it would go a long way towards taking the target off of his back.

Moore will be playing in the final season on his current contract in 2026. San Francisco could choose to extend him or could simply enjoy one year of him patrolling its secondary.
