49ers Free Agent Jauan Jennings Gets Blunt Raiders Take

San Francisco 49ers free agent Jauan Jennings’ market is starting to heat up now that the 2026 NFL Draft is over. Any team that didn’t draft an impact receiver on Day 1 or Day 2 could be looking at the veteran as an option to bolster their group.

On April 28,  ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported, citing a source, that Jennings was visiting the Minnesota Vikings on April 28 and 29. Nonetheless, the wideout left Minnesota without a contract and so it appears he’s looking at all his options.

PFF’s Bradley Locker sees the Las Vegas Raiders as a landing spot for Jennings, given that the Silver and Black could use another wideout and is familiar with new head coach Klint Kubiak, who was the 49ers’ offensive passing game specialist during the 2023 season.

“Even after adding the aforementioned Nailor, the Raiders need to continue to find ammunition for first overall pick Fernando Mendoza as well as possible starter Kirk Cousins,” Locker wrote in his April 30 article. “Jennings would fit the bill.

“Jennings turned in a disappointing 2025 season, producing a 68.9 PFF receiving grade with only 1.35 yards per route run. However, much of that was rooted in an uncharacteristically high 7.9% drop rate, and memory of his outstanding 2024 (83.7 receiving mark) isn’t forgotten.

“The Raiders still need an explosive perimeter option next to Nailor, and the 28-year-old Jennings — having played 70.1% of his snaps out wide last year — makes sense. The match in Las Vegas is even clearer considering new head coach Klint Kubiak guided Jennings in San Francisco in 2023 when he was still a well-kept secret.”

What Would the 49ers Free Agent Bring to the Raiders?

Last season with the 49ers, Jennings posted a 68.3 overall PFF grade, ranking 48th among 81 qualifying wide receivers. His 70.6 receiving grade checked in at No. 42 on that same list.

Jennings finished with 55 catches on 88 targets for 643 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 11.7 yards per reception. He added 180 yards after the catch and was credited with three drops over the course of the season.

Vikings Insider on Jauan Jennings’ Visit

With Jennings’ visit with the Vikings having come and gone without signing a contract, at least for now, Alec Lewis of The Athletic shared details on what was likely happening during the wide receiver’s time in the facilities.

“That visit was always kind of an exploratory type of feel,” Lewis said on the April 30 edition of “The Alec Lewis Show.” “It was never billed as ‘Jauan Jennings is coming here, it’s signing, done deal, over with and done for. ‘ It was always more of a, ‘Hey, you come meet us.

“We’re going to spend time with you, see where you’re at, talk through everything, fit, role, what we’re about, what this building is about, and then, obviously, some of the financial ideas with where both sides stand.’”

Moreover, Lewis shared that there’s still a possibility that Minnesota and Jennings reach a contract agreement in the future, even after he left the Vikings’ facilities without signing one.

“Just because Jauan Jennings was visiting, it was never like, ‘If this doesn’t happen, if he walks out of the building by Wednesday, what are we doing? The sky is falling. Do the Vikings even know what’s happening?‘” Lewis added. “Not at all. That’s not, I think, any expectation that that’s what this was about, just probably doesn’t hit the mark.”
