4-year-old dies after being pinned under car in Greeley

A 4-year-old died on Sunday after being pinned underneath a car in Greeley, according to a Tuesday news release from the Greeley Police Department.

On Sunday, police responded to a report of a traffic accident at a home in the 1800 block of 18th Avenue, according to officials. While en route to the address, officers were told that a small child was pinned under a vehicle.

The child, whose identity has not been released, was taken to the hospital with severe injuries and pronounced deceased a short time later.

A 36-year-old female was also injured during the incident and taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. She is expected to survive. An additional adult female and another juvenile were involved in the accident but not injured, police say.

Due to the traumatic injuries sustained by the child and other “various reasons,” the incident is being investigated by the Greely Investigations Unit and Traffic Unit, the release states. No arrests have been made and further information is not available at this time.

Anyone with information on the incident should contact the Greeley Police Department at 970-350-9605 or Detective Blair at 970-350-9680.
