The player’s certified agent must still be a participant on the call, he noted. However, this is a massive shift in how NFL free agency business gets done.
2026 NFL Free Agency News and Start Time
The NFL free agency timeline has two key dates every football fan needs to know. The negotiating window opens at noon ET on Monday, March 9. That’s when clubs can contact certified agents of prospective unrestricted free agents and begin hammering out contract terms.
The official signing period then begins at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 11, when players can actually put pen to paper. There are a few teams with a ton of cap space looking to spark a rebuild, and contenders are aiming to add one NFL free agent piece in hopes of a Super Bowl run.
