Two men are dead after what police are investigating as a murder-suicide in a northwest Aurora park on Sunday, officials said.
Aurora officers were already responding to General’s Park at 1561 Quentin St. for a possible domestic violence incident when the shooting occurred, just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the police department.
When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old man and a 63-year-old man who had both been shot, according to the release.
Joe Moylan, a spokesperson for the police department, said investigators believe the men knew each other, but the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
The 31-year-old man died on scene at the park and paramedics took the 63-year-old man to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said. Both men will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators believe one of the men shot the other before turning the gun on himself but didn’t say which man.
A 45-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital from the park with unknown injuries, but police said she was not involved in the shooting.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
