16-year-old found dead at Denver cemetery identified

A 16-year-old boy whose body was found at a Denver cemetery on Saturday died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner announced Wednesday.

Elias Garcia Tinajero was pronounced dead after he was found in the 400 block of South Quebec Street on Saturday evening, according to Denver police and the medical examiner’s office. The block is the same location as Fairmont Cemetery.

The Denver Police Department initially reported an adult man had died.

Tinajero’s death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Police are still investigating the incident and working to gather suspect information, Denver police said Wednesday. Anyone with information can submit it anonymously to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers online or by calling 720-913-7867.
