1 dead, 2 wounded in Chatham drive-by shooting

Three men were shot, including one fatally, late Monday during a drive-by shooting in Chatham.

The three men, 20, 20 and 19, were walking in the 8700 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when a someone in a black car that pulled up alongside them opened fire, hitting all three, about 10:40 p.m., Chicago police said.

One of the 20-year-olds suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was declared dead on the scene while the other two men were in good condition after being shot in the left legs. The younger man was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital while the older man was taken and the 19-year-old was taken were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

No one was arrested and the car sped away north on Cottage Grove Avenue.


Area 2 detectives are investigating.
