The record executive is currently incarcerated, but he used some of his phone time to call into TMZ, and he has a lot to say about the “assassination” that took Tupac’s life decades ago.</p>

<p id=”par-2_72″>Suge Knight has been speaking about Tupac’s murder for years. He even opened up to ABC News from behind bars about the topic, noting that he thinks Davis is pretty much done for when it comes to the trial. During a chat with the news outlet, he said that Davis already “told on himself,” referencing the comments Davis has spent years making about the drive-by shooting that took the 25-year-old rapper’s life.</p>

<p id=”par-3_88″>Davis expanded on his involvement in a 2019 memoir, <em>Compton Street Legend</em>. In the memoir, the gang member referenced providing the gun that was used in the slaying to his nephew. While he has never said he pulled the trigger, he certainly implicated himself heavily in the memoir. While Davis contends his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, was <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/what-happened-to-the-man-accused-of-murdering-tupac-shakur.html/”>the actual shooter</a>, he is the one standing trial. Anderson died in a car wash shootout in 1998, just a couple of years after Tupac’s death. The shooting was gang-related.</p>
<p id=”par-4_48″>Prosecutors are expected to lean heavily on those public admissions as central evidence in their case. While Knight has been clear that he does not wish to testify, he has a theory about what actually happened, and he’s been sharing it pretty openly as the trial garners headlines.</p>

In an August 11 call to <a href=”https://www.tmz.com/2026/08/11/suge-knight-says-tupac-shakur-murder-case-goes-beyond-keefe-d/”>TMZ Live,</a> he went further, insisting Tupac’s killing was something far more calculated than a gang retaliation gone wrong. “This was an assassination,” Knight told hosts Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere. He dismissed the idea that the shooting was simply payback over a chain, gang colors, or a tussle earlier in the night.</p>

The charge carries a gang enhancement.</p>
