<p id=”par-1_77″>Back in July, it was announced that <em>Scrubs</em> would be revived. Fans were thrilled at the prospect of catching up with <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/how-scrubs-managed-to-get-so-many-of-its-medical-storylines-right.html/”>their favorite fictional doctors </a>at their favorite fictional hospital. Not all of the main cast members, however, will be able to appear. One prominent figure from the series has died since the 2010 finale. Sam Lloyd, who played <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/scrubs-teds-a-capella-group-actually-existed-in-real-life.html/”>Sacred Heart’s lawyer, Ted Buckland,</a> died in 2020. The revival will honor his memory with a special tribute.</p>
<h2 class=”wp-block-heading” id=”h-when-did-sam-llyod-die”>When did Sam Llyod die?</h2>
<p id=”par-2_63″>Sam Lloyd died in April 2020, just over a year after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. According to <a href=”https://news.sky.com/story/scrubs-actor-diagnosed-with-cancer-weeks-after-becoming-a-father-11629705″>Sky News</a>, Lloyd sought medical care after worsening headaches and weight loss could no longer be ignored. Lloyd later learned that the brain tumor was a result of lung cancer that had metastasized. The diagnosis came just weeks after he welcomed a son.</p>

<p id=”par-4_70″>While Sam Lloyd won’t be able to reprise his role as Ted Buckland in the <em>Scrubs </em>revival, the team has made sure his memory is included in the series. During a recent chat with <a href=”https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a69976304/scrubs-zach-braff-donald-faison-exclusive-first-look-photos/”>Esquire</a>, Zach Braff revealed that the Sacred Heart staff will spend time at a new bar called Lloyd’s Tavern. The bar’s name, Braff revealed, was a production designer’s idea as a nice way to honor Lloyd.</p>
<p id=”par-5_44″>Braff, who rose to fame<a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/scrubs-j-d-wasnt-the-only-character-based-on-a-real-doctor.html/”> playing J.D. Dorian</a>, said he thinks the tribute is moving, but he promises there will be more. He told the outlet that doing the show without Lloyd is hard, and that a bigger tribute is also in the works.</p>
