<p id=”par-1_6″>Miss USA is battling another scandal. </p>
<p id=”par-2_47″>Weeks before contestants will vie for the national title at the 75th <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/miss-usa-2024-skips-2025-pageant-crown-new-winner.html/”>Miss USA pageant</a> in Miami, one woman has been removed from the competition. Miss North Carolina USA Brittany Boltinhouse was stripped of her crown on August 5, pageant organizers A Blaize Productions announced on <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DbrJOXwEbkf/?img_index=1″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Instagram</a>. </p>
<p id=”par-3_36″>Specific details about what led to the decision to disqualify Boltinhouse weren’t shared by the organization. But according to a report from <a href=”https://thencbeat.com/miss-north-carolina-usa-old-tweets/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>NCBeat</a>, she used the N-word in multiple social media posts between 2017 and 2019. </p>
<p id=”par-4_50″>“This decision was not made lightly,” the organizers said in their statement. “It followed a thorough review of recently surfaced information and was based on the totality of the circumstances and our responsibility to preserve the integrity of the Miss North Carolina USA title and the values of our organization.”</p>
<p id=”par-5_19″>First runner-up Myla Hadley will now represent North Carolina when the 2026 Miss USA pageant begins on August 24. </p>

<p id=”par-6_38″>Boltinhouse’s removal is just the latest bad press for the Miss USA pageant. In May 2024, both Miss USA 2023 Noelia Voigt and Miss Teen USA 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava abruptly resigned, citing a toxic culture and workplace bullying. </p>
<p id=”par-7_53″>In 2022, several Miss USA contestants accused pageant organizers of rigging the competition to favor winner Miss Texas USA R’Bonney Gabriel. (Gabriel was later crowned Miss Universe.) The scandal, as well as sexual harassment allegations against a pageant executive, eventually led to the resignation of pageant director and former Miss USA Crystle Stewart. </p>
<p id=”par-8_34″>From 1996 to 2015, the Miss Universe organization, including Miss USA, was owned by Donald Trump. Multiple contestants accused him of inappropriate behavior and making offensive remarks during his time as the pageant’s owner. </p>
<p id=”par-9_27″>Meanwhile, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/miss-universe-contestant-claims-2025-pageant-was-rigged-something-was-deeply-wrong.html/”>last year’s Miss Universe pageant</a> – to which the Miss USA winner advances – was marred by a contestant walk-out, judging scandals, and accusations of vote-rigging. </p>
