<p id=”par-1_44″>Today, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/lebron-james-bad-bunny-partied-together-rapper-dissed-nba-star-super-bowl-halftime-show.html/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>LeBron James</a> owns a few luxury homes with a real estate portfolio valued at more than $70 million. The <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/celebrity-athletes/?swcfpc=1″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Los Angeles Lakers superstar</a>‘s properties include a custom-built mansion in Ohio, his nearly 10,000 square-foot Brentwood residence, and his $36.75 million <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/lebron-james-demolished-37-million-beverly-hills-mansion-build-2-larger-mega-mansions-place.html/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Beverly Hills compound</a>.</p>
<p id=”par-2_23″>But LeBron came from humble beginnings in Akron and shared that growing up, he had no idea what a pantry was. </p>
<p id=”par-3_63″>During a recent episode of his <em>Mind the Game</em> podcast, LeBron explained that he learned what that was when he was in high school, recalling, “I went to my high school coach’s house and asked him ‘Can I get a snack or like some chips?’ He was like, ‘Yeah, just go in the pantry.’ I’m like, ‘What the hell is a pantry?’ </p>

<p id=”par-4_37″>“I’m like ‘Where I grew up, everything is on top of the refrigerator, bruh — the bread, the chips, the cereal. Everything is on top of the refrigerator. I don’t know what the hell a pantry is.’”</p>
<p id=”par-5_43″>These days, LeBron has homes with more than one kitchen and plenty of room for pantries, but when he was a kid in Akron and raised by a single mother, Gloria James, they lived in government housing projects called the Spring Hill Apartments.</p>
<p id=”par-6_41″>The <a href=”https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/3129612/2022/02/16/spring-hill-no-602-for-lebron-james-and-others-a-place-to-dream/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Athletic</a> noted that at one point, Gloria and LeBron moved into “unit 602” which had “two bedrooms, one bigger than the other, complemented by one-and-a-half bathrooms” and a “gas stove next to the sink, opposite the single-door refrigerator in the kitchen.”</p>
