Insiders Claim the LAPD Was Tired of Waiting to Arrest D4vd

The LAPD made headlines on April 16 with the much-anticipated arrest of David Anthony Burke, a TikToker and music artist better known as D4vd. While the arrest was months in the making, case followers were shocked that relative silence on the murder investigation was followed by the sudden arrest of the 21-year-old R&B artist. Now, insiders are claiming the LAPD was ready to move long ago and had grown tired of waiting for the district attorney’s approval.

Ever since the news broke that D4vd had been arrested in connection with Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death, online sleuths have been questioning the arrest’s timeline. Some followers have theorized that the LAPD received important evidence, while others questioned if they had some sort of intel suggesting D4vd was a flight risk. The answer might be much simpler. Insiders claim the LAPD simply got tired of waiting. According to TMZ, the slightly unconventional approach to D4vd’s arrest stemmed from the LAPD growing tired of waiting for the District Attorney’s office to act on the information they had provided. Insiders allege the arrest was intended to move the case to the top of the office’s workload.

Internet Sleuths Say Photos, Online Chatter, and Hometown Gossip Connect D4vd to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, so Why Hasn’t He Been Named Suspect?

It appears the strategy, though a risky one, might have worked. The district attorney will review all of the evidence on April 20. The office is expected to issue a final decision on whether to proceed with charges. While it is still not a sure thing, charges are expected to be filed against the once-rising TikTok star on that date. What those charges will be, however, is anyone’s guess. While online sleuths assume he’ll be charged with Celeste’s murder, additional charges could be coming, too. After all, the 21-year-old music artist appears to have groomed and preyed on the teen long before she died.

The LAPD has had several high-profile cases recently

Sure, Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death and the discovery of her body have made headlines for months. D4vd’s connection to the teenager dominated online discussions, too. Still, her case is not the only massive case the LAPD has been dealing with recently. In fact, it’s not even the only case involving a celebrity that is currently active. The LAPD has been pretty busy with high-profile cases.

Aside from dealing with D4vd, the LAPD was also involved in apprehending Nick Reiner. Reiner allegedly killed his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, in December 2025 after a fight at Conan O’Brien’s holiday party. Nick Reiner is currently being housed at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility while he awaits trial. D4vd is currently being held at the 77th Street Police Station jail while he awaits charges. Assuming those are issued, and he is, once again, held without bail, he is likely to be transferred. Twin Towers Correctional Facility is one of his possible destinations.
