He also doles out razor-sharp insults about those around him without much concern about consequences. In a recent interview, Cox took aim at some of Hollywood’s biggest names.</p>

<p id=”par-2_58″>In a recent interview with <a href=”https://www.thetimes.com/life-style/celebrity/article/brian-cox-succession-interview-2z9hcqdzb” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Times</a>, Cox didn’t appear to even attempt to censor his negative opinions about his peers. He admitted he turned down a role in the <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/pirates-of-the-caribbean-movies-ranked-worst-best.html/”><em>Pirates of the Caribbean </em>films</a>, a decision he does not regret because he didn’t have to work with Johnny Depp. He described him as “so overblown, so overrated”.</p>
<p id=”par-3_38″>He has worked with Ian McKellan, and described his style of acting as “not to my taste.” He also views former co-stars Edward Norton as a “pain in the arse” and Kevin Spacey as a “stupid, stupid man.”</p>
<p id=”par-4_39″>Cox also slammed Quentin Tarantino — who recently landed in hot water for his derisive comments about a number of actors — as “meretricious”; Michael Caton-Jones as “a complete arsehole”; and David Hare as a “see you next Tuesday.”</p>
<p id=”par-5_36″>Cox has previously made headlines for his criticisms about <em>Succession</em> co-star <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/jeremy-strongs-obsession-with-daniel-day-lewis-al-pacino-dustin-hoffman-deeply-impacted-acting-career.html/”>Jeremy Strong’s method acting</a>. He admitted his wife has often warned him about being too open about his opinions. He’s not worried about blowback, though.</p>
<p id=”par-6_51″>“Well, I don’t know yet if it’s caused me problems,” he said. “I mean, my wife keeps saying, ‘Brian, be careful. Brian, be careful.’ I think, ‘F*** it, I don’t want to be careful any more! I’ll be 80 this year. F*** it! I’m gonna say what I want to say.’”</p>

<p id=”par-7_26″>This year, Cox is making his directorial debut with the film <em>Glenrothan.</em> When discussing it, he took the opportunity to fire off another shot at Tarantino.</p>
<p id=”par-8_30″>“I like to honour the actor’s performance,” he said. “With a Quentin Tarantino film, what you see is all Quentin Tarantino. That’s not me. I don’t want to do that.”</p>
