Thomas Massie Serves Trump Receipts Against Claims, “The President’s Advisors Have Misled Him”

Rep. Thomas Massie

President Donald Trump complained on Friday to Fox News (via telephone) about elected Republicans who “don’t vote for us, like they should,” and complimented Democrats, “The one thing they do is stick together.” Trump added, “They don’t have these people like Massie, who’s just a terrible congressman.” Trump pointed out specifically that Massie didn’t vote for the SAVE Act, the controversial voter ID bill.

Massie responded to the President’s claims by writing on social media: “The President’s advisors have misled him. Today on Fox he said I didn’t vote for DHS or the SAVE Act. I voted for both, twice! The Senate is his problem.”

Massie, who is running for re-election and faces Trump-endorsed candidate Ed Gallrein in the Republican primary, delivered receipts of his claims with links to voting records on both the SAVE Act and the DHS appropriation.

Former U.S. Rep. Bob Good (R-VA), former chair of the House Freedom Caucus who fell out of the good graces of Trump when he endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for president in 2024, replied to Massie: “The president routinely lies about those he is trying to defeat in a primary…truth is not a concern to him.”

Note: After Good endorsed DeSantis, Good narrowly lost a primary challenge from state senator John McGuire, who was allegedly recruited by then-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and endorsed by Donald Trump.
