Marjorie Taylor Greene Rips Trump, “Best Help for the Democrats, Sad!”

Former U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) criticized President Donald Trump after Republican Clay Fuller on Tuesday won the Georgia runoff election to replace Greene in Congress. Greene resigned in January, frustrated with her congressional colleagues and what she characterized as Trump’s abandonment of “America First” principles.

Trump had endorsed Fuller, who beat Democrat Shawn Harris in the deeply red district that Trump won by 37 points in 2024. In order to keep the congressional seat beyond January, Fuller will have to run again in the midterm elections this November, and possibly face Harris again.

Trump boasted about Fuller winning Greene’s seat despite “the stench left” by Greene, whom the President refers to as a “traitor.”

Greene responded to Fuller’s win on social media: “GA14 was never in danger of flipping blue, but the results speak for themselves. Trump flipping MAGA from America First to America Last, covering up for the Epstein files, and betraying key campaign promises of no more foreign wars has been the best help for the Democrats. Sad!”

[NOTE: Fuller won 55.9% of the votes, Harris won 44.1%, a notably slim margin in a district that produced a Trump landslide in 2024.]

Democrats, including former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, are celebrating the “massive 25 point overperformance.”

Buttigieg congratulated Harris: “While coming up short of victory in Georgia’s highly conservative 14th District, his campaign generated more votes and more excitement than anyone would have thought possible there until recently. Across the country, in very different corners of America, I see forms of this same energy mounting. If we keep working hard, unbelievable results will be possible in November.”
