Marjorie Taylor Greene Joins Matt Gaetz To Support Hillary Clinton’s Challenge

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

House Oversight Committee chair James Comer (R-KY) is after former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, threatening to hold both in contempt of congress for rejecting subpoenas.

The Oversight Committee wants to interview the Clintons with the Epstein files as pretext, and when Bill Clinton sits for the committee it will mark the first time a former president has been so compelled by House Oversight. One major sticking point in their agreement to testify — and one reason they at first neglected their subpoenas, is that the Clintons insist that any testimony they give to be available live to the public.

(This demand is so that Comer can’t cherry-pick their testimony to shape a narrative of his choosing to the public.)

Former MAGA true believer and retired Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who in the past delivered passionate support for James Comer’s Biden hunt, this week found herself in the unlikely position of concurring with Hillary Clinton’s point of view over that of Comer.

Greene shared Clinton’s X post about the issue — and her challenge to Comer to have their fight “in public” — with her millions of followers, and reiterated the importance of Clinton’s demand for “transparency.”

“Transparency is everything. And much needed right now,” Greene wrote.

Greene joins other Republicans in agreeing with Hillary Clinton on this point — even Republicans like former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) whose list of issues on which he agrees with Clintons is one-line long. Nevertheless, Gaetz said wittily, as far as Clinton’s request for a public hearing goes, “I’m with her.”

Comer is accustomed to hunting Democrats from his Oversight seat, from which the Chair pursued the Biden family throughout Joe Biden‘s presidential term, talking frequently in broadcast media about what he characterized as the “Biden crime family” and compelling testimony from multiple people with the purpose of implicating Biden in wrongdoing.

Comer wasn’t successful in bringing in Biden to testify or charging him with a crime, though ultimately Hunter Biden was convicted on tax and gun crimes that Comer’s committee helped spotlight.

But Comer’s unwavering accusations about alleged Biden corruption took their toll politically, with Comer’s committee dominating numerous news cycles. Eventually, even Republican lawmakers slammed Comer’s efforts as “performative” — Steve Bannon‘s term — and ineffective. Democrats decried Comer too, but because they said his pursuit was unjust and a political hit job, not because — as Republicans complained — he wasn’t adept enough at investigation to find the crime.
