MAGA-aligned U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) criticized Texas Governor Greg Abbott for his endorsement of Abraham Enriquez, founder and President of Bienvenido US, a conservative organization dedicated to mobilizing and increasing the Latino vote across the country. Enriquez is running for Texas’s 19th Congressional District seat currently held by Rep. Jodey Arrington (R), who is retiring in January 2027.
In his endorsement, Abbott said Enriquez “has supported Texas’ border policies since day one,” and that Enriquez has vowed to “make President Trump’s border policies permanent.” Luna appears not to accept either statement as genuine Enriquez positions, even with Abbott’s amplification.
Thank you Governor Greg Abbott for your trust and support! I’ll fight for Texas in Congress and work to keep the border secure! pic.twitter.com/HmqBCKazGM

Luna wrote of Enriquez: “Why is Gov Abbot endorsing open border candidates who run ‘hispanic outreach groups’ that are anti-white? YIKES. Talk about bad intel @GregAbbott_TX . @SellForTexas19 is a way better option.”
Tom Sell, co-founder of the lobbying firm Combest, Sell & Associates in Washington, D.C., is running against Enriquez in the GOP primary.
Note: CPAC also endorsed Enriquez and said he “represents the next generation of conservative leadership West Texas deserves.”

Abbott also announced this weekend that the Lone Star State sent its voter rolls to the Department of Justice “to look for ineligible registrations.” He added, “We are using every available tool to ensure no illegal vote is cast in Texas.”
Democrats have warned that complying, as Texas did, with the DOJ’s request to share voter registration data could lead to a purging of legitimate voters from the rolls. Talking about Mississippi, which resisted a call to share its voter rolls during Trump’s first term, DNC Chair Ken Martin said: “The DNC won’t stand idly by as the Trump DOJ tries to get access to Mississippi voters’ sensitive information and put eligible voters at risk of being wrongfully purged from Mississippi’s voter rolls, which is why we are calling on the Mississippi Secretary of State to stand up for Mississippians and reject the Trump administration’s illegal agreement.”

This comes after a new Texas law that says only US citizens can vote in Texas.

[Note: The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 has long prohibited non-citizens from voting in federal elections. A few U.S. cities, including Burlington, Vermont, allow non-U.S. citizens who are in the country legally to vote in some local elections. However, historically not many turn out to vote.]
