Former GOP Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie spoke at Harvard Kennedy School on Monday and criticized his party for not speaking out against President Trump when he goes too far. Christie used Trump’s expletive-laced Easter Sunday post threatening Iran as an example.
In the wake of Trump’s Easter threats, Christie said, “Not one Republican, not one, said ‘okay, now, that’s enough. Those words on Easter Sunday were ill advised.’”
Christie voiced his disappointment with his party and its members, saying “they care more about their title than about doing the job they have.” He used Senator Lindsey Graham as an example.
Christie said of Graham, “This is a man who only cares about his title. Nothing else. He is a vapid, vacant human being. And for him to say the things he has said about Donald Trump in the past and all he wants to do is suck up and play another round of golf and pray he gets the endorsement for the U.S. Senate.”
Christie: The best example of this right now is Lindsey Graham. He is a vapid, vacant human being. For him to say the things he has said about Donald Trump in the past and all he wants to do is suck up and play another round of golf…

The former governor, once a Trump supporter, noted that the late Senator John McCain, “who had principles,” mentored Graham and said he thought of Graham “like a son.” Christie said: “I can guarantee you, John McCain is spinning in his grave watching Lindsey Graham suck up to Donald Trump.”
This isn’t the first time Christie has chastised Graham. On Real Time with Bill Maher, Christie said that “so many of my fellow party members” approach him in the green room of ABC News This Week, where he plays political pundit with George Stephanopoulos and Jonathan Karl. In the green room, according to Christie, these Republicans, including Graham, say “you’re so brave, that’s so great, I totally agree with you [about Trump]. He’s nuts.”
[NOTE: Christie predicted that his Republican Party will lose the House and the Senate in the midterm elections due to Trump’s low approval ratings on inflation and the economy.]
