Fox News Airs Video of Iran Bombing After Marco Rubio Said “The War Is Over”

Sec. Rubio

Testifying in Congress publicly for the first time since the war in Iran began in February, President Trump’s Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio said this week that “the war is over.”

Many Democrats in Congress balked at Rubio’s statement, especially since the administration has been reluctant to characterize its actions in Iran as a war.

Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) scolded Rubio: “You sent Congress a war powers notification saying we are not in active hostilities with Iran, while the U.S. was conducting strikes against Iran, and Iran was bombing U.S. embassies and bases throughout the Middle East. That was not consultation, it was an attempt to ‌avoid answering to this committee and this Congress about this war.”

On Thursday, Fox News amplified the video below and reported: “New video released by the Kuwaiti government shows the moment an Iranian drone strike slammed into the country’s major international airport.”

[Note: In the social media comments and in Congress, both supporters and opponents of the Iran war saw the continuing attacks as evidence that the conflict is not “over,” especially as no peace agreement has been negotiated and shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains at just a fraction of its pre-war level.]

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) also responded to the bombing in Kuwait, criticizing President Trump’s Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Murphy wrote: “Hegseth consistently gaslights that Iran’s military is ‘destroyed’. It’s a total lie – as evidenced by today’s devastating attack on Kuwait. 13 Americans dead, billions wasted, and Iran still has the majority of their missiles/drones; control of the Strait. A disaster.”
