U.S. Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) introduced a bill called “Measures Against Marxism’s Dangerous Adherents and Noxious Islamists” — the acronym spells out the last name of Democratic Socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
The bill would “limit alien eligibility for admission and naturalization and enable deportation and denaturalization for any membership, affiliation, or advocacy of socialist, communist, Chinese communist, Marxist, or Islamic fundamentalist doctrines, and for other purposes.”

Roy critics are replying with objections, including one commenter who wrote, “‘Marxist’ (political ideology) and ‘Islamic Fundamentalist’ (religious ideology) are protected under the 1st Amendment.”
Another Roy detractor mocked the performative aspect of the Congressman’s legislative efforts, writing, “It’s so easy to introduce bills that one KNOWS for a fact that bill will never pass. It’s pure posturing and theatre.”
[NOTE: Roy is running for Attorney General of Texas, the job currently held by Ken Paxton, who is running for incumbent Senator John Cornyn‘s seat in a fierce GOP runoff election. Neither Paxton nor Cornyn has received President Trump’s endorsement.]
Roy faces Texas state Senator Mayes Middleton in a May runoff to decide who will be the GOP nominee. Trump has also withheld his endorsement in the Texas AG primary.
As seen below, Roy complained that a SuperPAC in California — “a bunch of Leftists, Marxists,” he claimed — spent a million dollars on ads against him in Texas “because they fear me as Attorney General.”
A California SuperPAC is meddling in the Texas AG race. Why? Because their network knows I won’t roll over.
I won’t let them milk taxpayer subsidies, tear up our land, and sell out Texas.

Roy is also attacking his GOP opponent, Middleton, claiming: “A year ago, my inexperienced opponent Mayes Middleton introduced a bill that would have opened the floodgates for Sharia developments across Texas.”
Aaron Reitz, who also ran in the first round of the Texas GOP primary for AG and has endorsed Middleton, responded to Roy’s claims on social media. Reitz wrote: “A thin, clickbait piece from @FDRLST dropped yesterday claiming @mayes_middleton ‘tried to force towns to greenlight development of Muslim ‘Sharia Cities.’ lol, no, not even close.”
