Bill Cassidy Slammed by GOP and Dems, “Spare Us the Late-Blooming Conscience”

Sen. Bill Cassidy

After losing Tuesday’s GOP primary, in which Trump-endorsed Rep. Julia Letlow and Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming advanced to a runoff, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) was criticized by political pundits on both sides of the aisle for objecting to the President’s $1.8 billion fund to compensate Trump allies who believe they were unjustly investigated and persecuted by the DOJ.

On Wednesday, Cassidy wrote on social media: “People are concerned about paying their mortgage or rent, affording groceries and paying for gas, not about putting together a $1.8 billion fund for the President and his allies to pay whomever they wish with no legal precedent or accountability. This is adding to our national debt. If there needs to be a settlement, the administration should bring it to Congress to decide.”

The influential Democratic X account ‘Wu Tang is for the Children’ replied: “Incredible how quickly you grew a spine as soon as Trump dumped your [expletive] at the curb.”

MAGA-aligned influencer ‘Robby Starbuck’ also replied to Cassidy: “You should accept that voters don’t care what you think and want you gone.”

And ‘Dr. Cole’ responded: “Senator, Americans are worried about mortgages, groceries, and gas — the exact costs Trump promised to crush on day one but never delivered, while inflation and everyday expenses kept biting. Funny how the ‘truth comes out’ the second you’re not running for reelection. Also convenient to suddenly care about unaccountable billions and debt now… right after you cast the deciding vote to hand HHS to unfit RFK Jr., despite the warnings. Classic congressional Republican move: enable the chaos, then grandstand about the fallout once you’re safe on the way out. Spare us the late-blooming conscience.”

[NOTE: The Louisiana primary runoff election between Letlow and Fleming will be held on June 27. Democratic candidates seeking Cassidy’s seat, Jamie Davis and Gary Crockett, will also face each other in a primary runoff.]
