MAGA-aligned U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), who has been pushing for the SAVE Act, said on Wednesday that Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) “has said he will not support a CBDC ban in any of the legislation we send over” and has “also has said No Save America.”
Fellow MAGA Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN) confirmed Luna’s statement, writing: “I was there. I heard it.”

Trump supporter and conservative activist Scott Presler replied to Luna and Burchett: “Holy cow. Senate Majorty [sic] Leader Thune truly is thwarting President Trump’s agenda.” Many MAGA supporters in the comments are calling to “oust Thune.”
[NOTE: Thune has said that he supports the SAVE Act, but that he’s unwilling to break the Senate filibuster to pass it.]
While the SAVE Act passed the House — with no Republican voting against — the legislation faces opposition from some Republicans in the Senate.
Last week, four GOP Senators — Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Susan Collins (Maine), Thom Tillis (North Carolina) and Mitch McConnell (Kentucky) — voted to reject a proposal to attach the SAVE Act to a “must-pass” funding bill, arguing against “federal overreach” and the speed of implementation.
