Atlanta Braves Announce Mauricio Dubon Change Before Marlins Game

The Atlanta Braves are rolling right now, as they are winners of their last seven games, and have opened up a solid cushion in the NL East over the Phillies.

Currently, the Braves are taking on the Miami Marlins (at home) in a 3-game set that will conclude on Thursday evening. Martin Perez is getting the start for Atlanta, and the Braves offense will be trying to produce runs against Janson Junk. Atlanta is looking to sweep the Marlins after taking th first two games of the series.

Before the Marlins game, Atlanta made a few lineup tweaks, and one of them includes Mauricio Dubon.

Ozzie Albies is getting a rare off day for Atlanta on Thursday, which means utilityman Mauricio Dubon is taking his place at second base. Dubon played SS yesterday, and as a result of Ozzie being out of the lineup, Dubon is being bumped one spot in the order as well.

Mauricio Dubon has been everything and more for the Atlanta Braves this season, and Thursday’s lineup decision is the exact reason why.

Not only is Dubon enjoying a career year at the plate, but he also carries immense defensive versatility, which gives manager Walt Weiss the luxury of giving other players (like Ozzie Albies) days off when needed.

Across 409 total MLB at-bats, Dubon carries an average of .262 this season with 10 home runs, 56 RBI, 52 runs scored, 107 total hits, and an OPS of 94.

He’s one long ball away from reaching a new career high. Dubon has also been open about staying in Atlanta semi-long-term, if the Braves’ front office meets him on his contract aspirations.
