NHL Rumors: 3 Trade Destinations for Maple Leafs’ Joseph Woll

The Toronto Maple Leafs are entering the offseason with several trade candidates to watch. Among the names creating chatter in the rumor mill so far this offseason on the Maple Leafs is goaltender Joseph Woll. With the Maple Leafs having a surplus of NHL-caliber goalies, Woll has the potential to be a decent trade chip for the Maple Leafs if shopped.

Woll appeared in 39 games this season with the Maple Leafs, where he had a 15-16-7 record, an .898 save percentage, and a 3.34 goals-against average. Yet, when noting that he had a .907 save percentage or better in his four previous seasons, he would likely generate a good amount of interest if made available by the Maple Leafs this summer.

Because of this, let’s take a look at three teams that could look to acquire Woll this offseason.

Woll Would Give Flyers Much-Needed Upgrade Over Samuel Ersson

The Philadelphia Flyers stand out as a prime potential landing spot for Woll this summer. It is no secret that the Flyers should be looking to find an upgrade over Samuel Ersson on their roster. Bringing in Woll would provide them with just that.

If the Flyers landed Woll, he would form a strong tandem with Dan Vladar, who just had a career year with Philadelphia. With the Flyers being an exciting team on the rise that will be looking to take another step forward in 2026-27, it would make sense if they looked to add a goalie with a strong resume like Woll to their roster.

Woll Could Give the Oilers Their Answer Between the Pipes

The Edmonton Oilers are another club that would make sense as a suitor for Woll this offseason. The Oilers’ decision to acquire Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins this season backfired, as he struggled immensely in Edmonton. Meanwhile, Connor Ingram is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) and a better fit as a backup.

With this, it would make a lot of sense if the Oilers tried to land Woll from the Maple Leafs. If he bounced back in Edmonton and showed the form he had during his previous seasons with Toronto, he would be a strong pickup for the Oilers.

Woll Could Grab the Attention of the Panthers

Depending on what happens with pending UFA Sergei Bobrovsky this offseason, the Florida Panthers could be another team to watch when it comes to Woll. Woll would have the potential to be a solid replacement for Bobrovsky if the two-time Vezina Trophy winner decides to test free agency.

However, even if the Panthers end up keeping Bobrovsky around, Woll could still make sense for them as a target if fellow pending UFA Daniil Tarasov ends up signing elsewhere. With this, the Panthers could be a dark-horse team to keep an eye on if the Maple Leafs decide to shop Woll during this summer. However, the Panthers would likely need to pay a bit more to land Woll from the Maple Leafs. This is because they are one of the Maple Leafs’ top division rivals.
