Atlanta Braves Predicted to Trade for Rockies’ $50 Million Pitcher in Latest MLB Mock

On Sunday afternoon, USA Today MLB insider Bob Nightengale came out with a few reports regarding potential MLB trade candidates and who is gaining real buzz across the league.

One of those names included Colorado Rockies‘ reliever Antonio Senzatela, who is putting together such a quality season for pitching in Coors Field more often than not. Senzatela had previously been a starter after inking a five-year, $50 million deal, but after that hadn’t really worked out, the Rockies decided to move him to the bullpen, and it’s worked out for the better.

A recent trade prediction by FanSided.com features the Atlanta Braves making a move for Senzatela, which could officially put the NL East race to sleep.

Should the Braves Trade for Antonio Senzatela?

After the early reports that Antonio Senzatela could be a popular name at the MLB trade deadline, the speculation game is on, and given the Braves’ success this season (best team in baseball), it’s fair to believe that they will be buyers at the deadline with hopes of advancing to the World Series.

FanSided’s Mark Powell proposes that Atlanta could offer a trade package of prospects Owen Murphy and Eric Hartman to complete a deal:

Horoscope for Thursday, May 07, 2026

“No one likes trading from the prospect cupboard. Because we don’t know what Murphy and Hartman will become just yet, it’s like voluntarily giving away your lottery ticket. However, Senzatela has a club option for 2027, so it’s not like he’s on an expiring contract. That means the Braves will have to send away some promising prospects for his services. Murphy is the team’s No. 6-ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline, though he’s struggled this year. Hartman has performed well in Rome, but is just 19 years old and needs a lot of polish. If the Braves can get away with this offer, they should take it, as Senzatela could play a big role in their postseason push.”

The question then becomes, is this trade package strong enough? And would the Rockies actually be willing to part with Senzatela? It’s also important to note that Senzatela could be entering MLB free agency after the season is over.

What Will the Braves’ MLB Trade Deadline Be?

The Atlanta Braves, again, with the best record in MLB, don’t exactly need too much right now.

However, bullpen help is always appreciated, especially come October.

If the Braves don’t have to part with too many young assets, trading for another quality reliever could be in the near future.

As for Antonio Senzatela being a quality trade candidate, over 28+ innings this season, he’s boasting an ERA of 1.27 with 25 strikeouts and just one home run allowed (which is impressive in Coors Field).

It will be interesting to see what the Braves plan will be come June and July, but Antonio Senzatela could be a name to keep an eye on.
