Kalen DeBoer Hints Alabama WR Ryan Coleman-Williams Is Ready for a Huge 2026

There may not be a more important player for the Alabama Crimson Tide offense entering the 2026 season than Ryan Coleman-Williams, and head coach Kalen DeBoer made it clear this week that he believes the star receiver is doing everything necessary to deliver a breakout junior campaign.

While joining former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy on Always College Football, DeBoer praised Coleman-Williams’ offseason approach and leadership while discussing the expectations surrounding the former five-star recruit.

According to DeBoer, the work ethic has never been an issue.

“You’re never going to question the work ethic, the character, the personality,” DeBoer said. “He’s competitive as anyone you’re going to find.”

The Alabama head coach also pointed to Coleman-Williams staying in Tuscaloosa during offseason downtime as another example of his commitment to improving ahead of Year 3 in the program.

“There’s a couple weeks where they do get that one time a year to get away. Guess who’s here? That’s Ryan Coleman-Williams,” DeBoer said.

Ryan Coleman-Williams Remains the Centerpiece of Alabama’s Offense

Even after a statistically quieter sophomore season, Coleman-Williams still projects as the centerpiece of Alabama’s passing attack entering 2026.

The former Saraland standout exploded onto the national scene during his freshman season in 2024, finishing with 865 receiving yards and eight touchdowns while earning Freshman All-American honors.

His production dipped in 2025 as Alabama’s offense battled inconsistency and injuries, but the Crimson Tide coaching staff has repeatedly emphasized how valuable he remains to the program.

DeBoer’s latest comments continue a trend that has become increasingly noticeable throughout the offseason: Alabama’s staff fully expects Coleman-Williams to take another major step in 2026.

The timing is critical for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama is replacing veteran leadership on offense while also breaking in a new starting quarterback, with players like Keelon Russell and Austin Mack competing for the job entering fall camp. Having a proven playmaker and leader at wide receiver could become one of the defining factors in Alabama’s playoff push.

Alabama Believes Coleman-Williams Is Ready for a Bounce-Back Year

Despite his struggles in 2025, Coleman-Williams remains the player defenses will likely focus on first alongside rising sophomore Lotzier Brooks.

Coleman-Williams is a big play waiting to happen, and given the leadership qualities that DeBoer highlighted, 2026 could be a massive season for the third-year player.

For a team with national championship expectations entering Year 3 under DeBoer, that type of buy-in from one of the roster’s biggest stars could become invaluable.
