Former Obama senior advisor Dan Pfeiffer amplified a New York Times global health report titled ‘AIDS Creeps Back in Parts of Zambia, a Year After U.S. Cuts to H.I.V. Assistance,’ with the subtitle: “A once-robust H.I.V. treatment and prevention system, credited with saving hundreds of thousands of lives, has begun to crumble.”
Pfeiffer tagged U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has overseen a major restructuring of U.S. foreign aid, resulting in significant cuts to programs, including HIV/AIDS funding. Pfeiffer wrote: “Great job, Marco Rubio. Hope you’re proud of yourself.”
U.S. Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC), who is running for governor of South Carolina, replied to Pfeiffer: “Not our problem.”

Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) slammed Mace — who often wears jewelry with large crucifixes, see below — and wrote: “So Christian of you,” adding, “can you imagine, someday you will face your creator, and have to justify yourself. Not gonna be a fun meeting for Nancy.”

Another Mace critic replied: “You do realize fighting these diseases overseas helps prevent them from taking root in the United States?” And another critic replied: “Do you have any morals or human decency? Would you save a billion people’s lives or build a ballroom?”
