Tampa Bay Buccaneers Draft Billy Schrauth with Pick 160

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Notre Dame guard Billy Schrauth with the 160th pick of the NFL Draft in the fifth round. The Buccaneers needed depth at guard with Ben Bredeson as a potential cap casualty in 2027 and Cody Mauch missing most of the 2025 season with a torn meniscus.

Schruath played three seasons with Notre Dame and was a starter for two and a half seasons. He played on both sides of the offensive line as well. He classifies as a fourth year junior. It remains to be seen if he has starting upside in the NFL, but the Bucs needed to add depth to their offensive line.

Dane Brugler of the Athletic ranked Schrauth as the seventh best guard of the class and gave a third or fourth round grade. He noted his versatility as a blocker and experience at different spots on the offensive line. Brugler also acknowledged Schrauth’s high football IQ and character.

Brugler said, “Schrauth is solid across the board. He has the athletic ability, play strength and demeanor to compete for NFL starting snaps (if he stays off the injured list and reaches his development potential). His game gives off Wyatt Teller vibes.”
