Scottie Scheffler & Wife Meredith’s Masters News: A Tradition Unlike Any Other

For much of the country, the Masters signals the start of spring, but it usually means something else for Scottie Scheffler and wife, Meredith Scheffler. For two of the last three Masters, the couple has been expecting a new addition ahead of the tournament.

Scottie and wife, Meredith, introduced their new baby, Remy, to the world at the Masters Par 3 Tournament. Back in 2024, Scottie found himself on call as Meredith was pregnant with their first son, Bennett.

The star golfer revealed that he planned to leave the Masters if Meredith went into labor. Bennett did not arrive until a few weeks later, and Scottie went on to win his second green jacket.

This year, Remy arrived before the Masters. Scottie was joined at Augusta by his wife and two kids ahead of the Masters.

“I’m getting plenty of sleep,” Scottie told reporters on April 7. “My wife’s a trooper. Yeah, having a newborn is always an interesting thing, but Remy is so young right now, they sleep a lot of the day.

“I think he’s used to being in the womb at this point. Yeah, I’ve been able to get a decent amount of sleep.”

There was a plan in place during the 2024 Masters for Scottie to leave the tournament if Meredith went into labor. Things went as well as possible as Bennett arrived healthy just weeks after Scottie won the Masters.

“Definitely have a way to get home pretty quickly,” Scottie remarked on April 13, 2024, per Golf Week. “We have somebody here that has access to their cell phone, if that’s all right.

“And, yes, I’ll be available to go home then whenever I need to.”

As for Remy’s name, Scottie admitted that the couple simply liked the sound of it. Scottie candidly revealed that it might be a “stretch” to tie his name to any metaphor.

“Mer liked kind of the i, e, or y at the end of the name,” Scottie explained. “We had Bennett first, and we can call him Bennie if we like the i-e. Remy was a name we liked. No real significance to it.

“We looked on the internet and found some stuff, but it’s quite metaphorical and a stretch for what the name means. I’m not going to share that. I’ll probably butcher it if I try, so I’ll get back to you on that. It was something that we liked, and that’s pretty much it.”

Scottie Scheffer & Wife, Meredith, Try to Shield 2 Kids From Spotlight

The Masters has become a time when Scottie not only competes to win green jackets, but the tournament has added significance for the family. Scottie and Meredith’s two children, Remy and Bennett, will forever be tied to the Masters in different ways.

It is a challenge being one of the most famous golfers in the world while also trying to keep your family life private. Scottie revealed how he and his wife balance the spotlight with two young children.

“Yeah, I don’t really know how to use Instagram,” Scottie joked. “So any posts or anything like that, I feel like those things can be a great tool to be able to share certain things about my life, but when it comes to my kids, I want them to have as simple of a life as they can and be able to grow and develop like normal kids the same way I did.

“There’s no reason that my kids need to be on TV or on my Instagram or whatever it is. I feel like my kids need to have a normal upbringing or as normal as I can, and we’ll go from there.”
