Houston Rockets Make Kevin Durant Announcement Before Grizzlies Game

On Sunday, the Houston Rockets will play the Memphis Grizzlies (at home) in Texas.

The Rockets are coming off a 136-132 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves (also in Houston).

Kevin Durant finished with 33 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, one steal and two blocks while shooting 13/18 from the field and 0/1 from three-point range in 39 minutes of playing time.

For Sunday’s game, the Rockets have announced that Durant has been ruled out.

Underdog NBA wrote: “Kevin Durant (rest) listed out for Sunday.”

Durant finished the regular season with averages of 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per contest while shooting 52.0% from the field and 41.3% from three-point range in 78 games.

He was traded to Houston (via the Phoenix Suns) over the summer.

He played 2,840 minutes, the most he’s played since his MVP season in 2014, and he only sat out one game due to injury. Between his level of play and availability, Rockets could not have asked for more”

The Rockets are the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a 51-30 record in 81 games.

They have won eight out of their last ten games (and are 29-11 at home).

The Rockets are coming off a year where they made the NBA playoffs.

That said, they lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round (in seven games).

Adding Durant should give them a real chance to reach the Western Conference finals.

Grizzlies Right Now

The Grizzlies have had a very tough season as the 12th seed in the Western Conference with a 25-56 record in 81 games.

They are in the middle of a seven-game losing streak (and have gone 1-9 over their last ten).

Last season, the Grizzlies got swept by the OKC Thunder in the first round.
