Los Angeles Dodgers Get Exciting Early Rank After Opening Weekend

The Los Angeles Dodgers are off to a hot start the 2026 season. They swept the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend, and though they lost their series opener to the Cleveland Guardians, they still are 3-1 and have a two-game lead in the National League West.

No teams in Major League Baseball remain undefeated, but the Dodgers are tied for the best record in the league. This bodes well for them after having won back-to-back World Series titles. They are hoping to become the first team since the New York Yankees from 1998-2000 to three-peat.

In the latest power rankings by Chad Jennings, Grant Brisbee and Levi Weaver of The Athletic, the Dodgers are still ranked at the top, which should be exciting, but not surprising for their fanbase.

“It’s not like everyone on the Dodgers is cooking,” Brisbee wrote. “Shohei Ohtani hasn’t gotten much to swing at, and he hasn’t done much with the swings he’s gotten off. Four of the everyday players — Mookie Betts, Teoscar Hernández, Kyle Tucker and Ohtani — were under the Mendoza Line for the first series of the season. This makes it more than a little terrifying that the Dodgers are still rolling, still laying waste to everyone in their path. At some point, and soon, they’ll really start hitting.”

Los Angeles Dodgers Remain MLB’s Best Team

It’s only a matter of time before the rest of the roster starts to click. It is important to note that last season, the Dodgers got off to a bit of a slow start and actually did not finish with the best record in the league as they had in 2024.

They still won 93 games, but were the third seed in the National League and were unable to avoid the Wild Card Series, though that didn’t stop them from winning another title. The Dodgers still have a lot to look forward to, and they only got better over the winter, signing two marquee free agents in Kyle Tucker and Edwin Diaz.

It is likely only a matter of time before Tucker starts to hit. Once that happens, the Dodgers are going to be very difficult to stop, and it would be hard to imagine them not winning another World Series title with all the talent that they have stacked up on their roster.

The lineup is full of superstars including Ohtani, Betts and Freddie Freeman, all three of which are former MVPs.

Dodgers Keep Trucking Along

Ultimately, there doesn’t appear to be any reason for Dodgers fans to be concerned. There is a lot to like about the current roster, and the future still appears very bright. As long as they keep spending their money and developing star players, they should be able to contend for a World Series title without a problem.

It will be interesting to see what the rest of the season has in store for the back-to-back reigning champions. Fans likely aren’t concerned by the struggles of a few of their stars, and shouldn’t be as long as the Dodgers keep winning.
