Lions Add $7 Million Lineman With Starting Experience: Report

With free agency progressing into its third week, the Detroit Lions continued to address their offensive line. On Wednesday, the team added veteran interior offensive lineman Ben Bartch.

The Lions announced the signing on social media and their team website. The Detroit Free Press’s Dave Birkett and ESPN’s Adam Schefter also reported the signing.

“The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed unrestricted free agent OL Ben Bartch. Contract terms were not disclosed,” stated an article from Detroitlions.com.

“Bartch comes to Detroit in his seventh NFL season after splitting his career with the San Francisco 49ers (2023-25) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2020-23).”

In his six NFL seasons, Bartch has appeared in 55 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers. During his second season in 2021, he started 11 games for the Jaguars.

Last season, he played six contests, starting two of them for San Francisco.

The financial details of Bartch’s contract with Detroit were initially undisclosed. The veteran lineman has earned $7.7 million over his NFL career according to Spotrac.
