Team USA is represented in the women’s individual figure skating competition by Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu, and Isabeau Levito – AKA the ‘Blade Angels‘ as they are popularly called as a group. Glenn, who was predicted to be the frontrunner for Team USA on the ice, fell during her short program performance and left the ice in tears in an emotional moment reminiscent of Ilia Malinin’s disastrous free skate that saw him lose out on the medal podium during the men’s competition. Going into the women’s free skate competition, the hopes of U.S. figure skating rest on Alysa Liu’s shoulders as she is currently in 3rd place and in a position to win a medal if she delivers a flawless routine during the second part of the women’s event.
