Raiders Receive Blunt Words Amid Klint Kubiak Head Coach News

The Las Vegas Raiders reportedly have their next head coach lined up. On Feb. 1, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, citing sources, that the Silver and Black expect to hire Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as their next head coach after the Super Bowl.

Kubiak won’t be able to finalize a deal with the Raiders until after the Super Bowl, where the Seahawks are set to face the New England Patriots. Nonetheless, with many assuming that nothing strange will happen and Kubiak will take over, there are several takes on this potential hire.

On Feb. 2 edition of “The Arena,” former Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib gave major praise to the Raiders for getting this hire right.

“Whoever got Klint was going to get the A-plus, man,” Talib said about the Kubiak hire. “It’s time for him to shine, man. This is a football bloodline guy [The] two years I was around him, you could feel the leadership, bro. He’s a real football guy [and] he knows everybody in the building.

“He brings that same energy every day; he’s just a great football mind, a great guy to be around in the building. Then you send him to Vegas, and he gets his workhorse running back. He got a Premier tight end. He got his quarterback. His quarterback is going to be able to handle anything you throw at him.

Speculation Over Who Klint Kubiak Could Bring to Las Vegas

Amid the report that Kubiak is on his way to Las Vegas, The Athletic’s Ted Nguyen floated a name that the Seahawks coach could consider bringing over from Seattle to be his offensive coordinator.

“The most important coach that Kubiak has to take with him and believe he will is OL coach John Benton,” Nguyen wrote on X on Feb. 1. “He should give him the OC title and a big salary.”

It will be interesting to see how Kubiak fills out his coaching staff and who he tabs as his offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and offensive line coach, since that was a lightning rod of a topic under former head coach Pete Carroll.

Raiders Great Talks Reported Klint Kubiak Hire

Over the last few days, former Raiders players have shared their thoughts on Kubiak potentially being the next head coach for the Silver and Black. Before the news regarding Kubiak’s reported hire, Raiders legend Reggie Kinlaw shared his thoughts on the Seahawks coach potentially being the guy in charge in Las Vegas.

“We’re going to talk about the new era,” Kinlaw told Vegas Sports Today in a video posted on Jan. 31. “This is new football. I mean, fundamentals have changed, have not changed, but the style of football has changed. So I’m looking at all these other teams that got great quarterbacks. I mean, great quarterbacks or young quarterbacks coming up. So you need a young head coach.

“Kubiak will be ideal for the Raiders. And plus, if we draft [Fernando] Mendoza, you got somebody that can coach this kid, break him in playing a new style of football, which is this all about passing, dude. I mean, you know, we either get a sit‑in‑the‑pocket quarterback or somebody that can move around.”
