Broncos’ AFC Championship Exit Sparks Immediate Coaching Interest From Bills, Raiders

The Denver Broncos season ended in heartbreak on Sunday, but the ripple effects were felt almost immediately.

After receiving strong interest from the Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders on Monday, Denver Broncos passing game coordinator Davis Webb wasted no time jumping back onto the NFL’s coaching carousel.

Webb met with a few teams over the Broncos first round bye.

However, he was only cleared to speak with other teams once Denver’s postseason run ended.

Now that the Broncos are eliminated, teams were immediately allowed to reach out to schedule interviews.

As NFL.com noted, Webb met earlier in the day with the Buffalo Bills about their head coaching vacancy.

He is also set to sit down tonight in Las Vegas with the Raiders.

This highlights how quickly interest has intensified just one day after Denver’s AFC Championship exit.

Buffalo’s search also took a turn when Philip Rivers withdrew from consideration.

With Rivers out, Webb has quickly become one of the most intriguing options for a Bills franchise looking to maximize the prime years of quarterback Josh Allen.

Why Webb Is Drawing Immediate Interest

At just 31 years old, Webb has built a rapidly rising reputation under Broncos head coach Sean Payton.

A former NFL quarterback himself, Webb has been credited internally with helping guide Denver’s offensive evolution and accelerating the development of Bo Nix.

Nix finished the regular season with 3,391 passing yards and 25 touchdowns with eight game-winning drives in 2025.

He helped lead the Broncos to their first division title and playoff win since 2015.

League evaluators have consistently pointed to Webb’s role in simplifying the offense.

Many have cited his structured approach and ability to tailor concepts to a quarterback’s strengths as a major reason for Nix’s success.

Payton praised Davis Webb last season for his organization and teaching style.

He called him part of the “new generation of coaches that are tech-savvy, detail-oriented, and highly relatable to players.”

That profile resonates with both Buffalo and Las Vegas who are both seeking a modern offensive leader.

Broncos Face Potential Staff Turnover

Davis Webb may not be the only Denver assistant drawing serious attention.

Assistant head coach and defensive passing game coordinator Jim Leonhard has also surfaced as a top candidate for defensive coordinator openings.

There has been major reported interest from the Los Angeles Chargers to replace Jesse Minter.

If Webb and Leonhard both depart, Denver could face meaningful turnover on a staff that helped engineer one of the league’s best two-year turnarounds.

The Broncos’ front office must be ready to replace two of the best assistant coaches in the NFL.

For Webb, he has earned this recognition and his next few days could be career-defining.

For Denver, the potential departures of Webb and Leonhard would leave significant voids to fill as the Broncos look to sustain their recent success.
