Lamar Jackson Shares Response After Fueling on Raiders Rumors

Despite not requesting a trade, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson finds himself at the center of trade rumors. Specifically, there has been chatter that the Las Vegas Raiders might make a run at him.

The team holds the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, so they have a very valuable asset they can offer the Ravens. It’s difficult to know exactly where things stand with Jackson until the new head coach settles in.

He’s a big reason why they have an appealing job opening. That said, he’s a unique player with a unique skill set, so not every coach might be a great fit with him. Jackson hasn’t suggested that he wants to be moved, but he did turn a lot of heads with some recent social activity.

A Ravens fan posted an alleged picture of his son wearing a Jackson jersey.

“Is this a good time to point out my (then) 3 year old MAY have predicted the potential move of (Lamar Jackson) to the Raiders?” the post on X read.

Jackson decided to repost the message, which quickly poured gasoline on the Raiders trade rumors. However, the two-time MVP clarified why he reposted.

“Lol I just posted the kid in the jersey didn’t even read the caption,” Jackson wrote on X.

There’s No Reason for Jackson to Stir the Pot Right Now

If Jackson is going to get traded to the Raiders, it’s highly unlikely he’s going to leak that by reposting a random X post. He’ll likely sit in the background and see what the Ravens do.

He’s also due for a contract extension, so if he does plan to stay in Baltimore, he’s going to do what he can to make sure he gets paid. There’s no reason for him to try to stir the pot right now. That said, it’s clear that the Raiders-Jackson rumors aren’t going away.

Jackson Has New Head Coach

The Ravens announced on Thursday that they’ve decided to hire Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter as their next head coach. This could be good news for Jackson, as Minter previously coached with the team from 2017 to 2020.

He was on the defensive side of the ball, so he likely doesn’t have a close relationship with Jackson, but they should know each other in some capacity.

The fact that the Ravens are hiring a defensive-minded head coach might work in Jackson’s favor. Minter is likely to want a run-first offense, and there isn’t a better quarterback to have with that kind of offense than Jackson.

Had the Ravens hired somebody like Klint Kubiak, it would be easier to see how he’d want a more traditional pocket passer under center. Now, this doesn’t guarantee that the plan is for Jackson to return.

There’s still a lot that can happen the rest of the offseason. For now, he should feel good about his chances of getting a contract extension. With Minter leading the defense, having a star quarterback who can leave fewer questions on offense is very valuable.
