Police said the woman was walking across Mission Boulevard but was not in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle. She was transported to a hospital, where she later died.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating in the investigation, authorities said. Police said drug or alcohol impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision.

Westbound Mission Boulevard was shut down between Interstate 680 and Warm Springs Boulevard for several hours while the police investigation was being conducted.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has other information about what happened is asked to contact the police traffic unit at 510-790-6760.
