Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) girls Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from Sept. 23-28.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.
Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.
We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
McKenzie Anderson, James Logan volleyball: The reigning Mission Valley Athletic League MVP surpassed 1,000 career digs against Moreau Catholic. Anderson currently has 213 digs this season through 19 games.
Sophia Bertolo, Granada flag football: The slot receiver had 18 receptions for 165 yards and four touchdowns in victories over Heritage and Dougherty Valley. Her big games helped Granada improve to 7-2.
Maddie Dhillon, Fremont-Sunnyvale field hockey: The junior midfielder dished out two assists in a victory over Monta Vista. That performance helped Fremont get its first victory in league play.
Eden Enoru, Heritage flag football: The NCS medalist in the 400 meters this spring has used her speed to dominate in flag football. Enoru had 105 rushing yards and two touchdowns against Granada and then rushed for 159 yards and another TD against Livermore.
Elise Fowler, Archbishop Mitty field hockey: The senior scored two goals against Valley Christian in a 6-0 victory. That gave her five goals on the season.

Julia Grigorescu, Milpitas volleyball: In victories over Cupertino and Wilcox, the junior had 23 kills, eight aces, 30 digs and 26 serve receptions. Milpitas ended the week on an eight-match winning streak.
Kylie Hoornaert, Prospect cross country: The senior, who is the reigning CCS champion in the 800 meters, took first place at the Westmoor Invitational when she ran the 2.7-mile race in 15 minutes, 41 seconds.
Ava Marucco, Monte Vista flag football: The defensive back had two interceptions and returned them for 30 yards. She also and three pass break-ups.
Miranda Prijatel, Branham volleyball: The senior outside hitter totaled 44 kills and 30 digs in victories against Leigh and Sobrato. Prijatel ended the week with 154 kills and 103 digs on the season.
Avery Sullivan, Campolindo water polo: The center scored seven goals, had six steals, drew seven ejections and had two blocks in wins against Arroyo Grande, San Ramon Valley and Tamalpais.
