Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.

For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.

This week, we consider performances from Jan. 27 to Feb. 1.

Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.

Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.

We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.

On to the nominees:

Dominic Antoine Jr., Fremont-Oakland basketball: The junior scored 19 points in Fremont’s 81-57 win over McClymonds. Fremont (15-10) will host Oakland High on Wednesday.

Devon DeHaro, Live Oak basketball: DeHaro scored 21 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead Live Oak to a 70-38 win over Mt. Pleasant. Live Oak is slated to play Evergreen Valley at home on Wednesday.

Colin Farley, Clayton Valley soccer: The senior goalkeeper totaled four saves in Clayton Valley’s 2-0 win over Campolindo. Clayton Valley (11-2-1, 5-1 Diablo Athletic League Foothill) will host Acalanes on Tuesday. 

Evan Guillermo, Santa Teresa basketball: Guillermo averaged 22.5 points across two games in wins over Westmont and Willow Glen. Santa Teresa (10-10) has shot up to fourth in the Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division and is slated to travel to Leigh on Wednesday. 

Brayden Harris, Valley Christian basketball: Harris had a game-high 19 points to lead Valley Christian to its first win over Archbishop Mitty since 2006. Valley Christian (14-5, 5-4 West Catholic) hosts St. Francis on Tuesday. 

Donte Joseph, Berkeley basketball: The junior scored 16 points to lead Berkeley to a 69-65 win over Bishop O’Dowd. Berkeley will host San Leandro on Wednesday. 

Jaiden Miller, Liberty basketball: The sophomore totaled 23 points in Liberty’s 61-44 win over Antioch. Liberty (22-2, 8-0 Bay Valley) is scheduled to host Deer Valley on Friday. 

Preston Oliver, Ygnacio Valley basketball: Oliver scored 22 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked two shots to lead YV to a 62-41 win over Northgate. The Wolves have won their last six games and are scheduled to host College Park on Tuesday. 

Nathan Thurlow, Menlo-Atherton soccer: Thurlow, a senior, scored two goals and dished out three assists to lead M-A to a 5-1 victory over Sequoia. M-A is 11-0-4 and travels to Burlingame on Wednesday. 

Joshua Villanueva, Independence basketball: Villanueva scored a game-high 26 points in Independence’s 65-35 win over Piedmont Hills. Independence (13-6, 6-0 BVAL-Santa Teresa West) will travel to Lincoln-San Jose on Wednesday.
