Police are investigating a series of thefts and burglaries in the Rimer, Camino Pablo, and Larch neighborhoods in Moraga reported early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a call around 6:30 a.m. Sunday about several suspicious individuals driving around these neighborhoods, allegedly attempting to open car door handles and peering into parked vehicles.
Suspects targeted at least 15 unlocked vehicles, some of which had garage door remote controls that allowed thieves to gain access to garages and some residences, according to Moraga Police Department.
Responding officers saw the suspects enter a garage with a stolen gray Lexus parked outside a home on Larch and pursued them up to Canyon Road before ending the chase due to safety concerns.
“We are currently investigating all of the incidents and coordinating with other jurisdictions where these individuals also committed crimes,” MPD said.
The value of the items stolen in the burglaries and thefts is unknown.
Residents with security cameras are asked to review footage from 6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
Police urge residents to keep their car and house doors closed and locked and to not keep valuables in vehicles. Those who might have ring camera footage of the thieves are urged to call the Moraga Police Department at 925-284-5010. The same number can also be used to report suspicious activity. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1.
