San Mateo woman killed in head-on crash Monday in Gilroy

GILROY — A 79-year-old San Mateo woman was killed in a head-on collision Monday afternoon in Gilroy, authorities said.

Man killed in solo-car crash Monday in San Jose

The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. on Highway 152 west of Highway 156 when a 2010 Lexus crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a 2023 Kenworth, the California Highway Patrol said in a news release. The driver of the Lexus was killed.

The CHP did not identify the driver Tuesday.

Alcohol and drugs did not appear to play a role in the crash, according to the CHP.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to those who have lost a loved one in this tragic incident,” Capt. Noel Coady said. “This heartbreaking event underscores the critical importance of adhering to traffic regulations and prioritizing safety on our roads.”
