The incident happened at about 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Macy’s at the Northgate mall, police Sgt. Justin Graham said. He said the suspect kicked, bit and scratched the security employees after they intercepted him with stolen merchandise.

Edwin Barahona Hernandez, 37, of San Mateo was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of robbery, possessing methamphetamine and possessing drug paraphernalia. He remained in custody Thursday in lieu of $75,000 bail.
