A twin-propeller airplane ran out of runway when landing at Palo Alto Airport around 3 p..m. on Saturday, leaving it partially submerged in the Baylands Nature Preserve marshland, according to the city of Palo Alto.
While the plane’s two passengers were unharmed in the incident, the plane suffered a fuel leak during the incident that left fuel spilling into preserve marshland.
Officials have closed the nature preserve as hazmat crews work to contain the fuel leak and the public is advised to avoid the area.
