Police ID Oakland woman who was killed while attempting to flee

OAKLAND — Police here have identified a woman who was shot and killed at a gas station earlier this month while attempting to drive away from her killer.

Darnesha Williams, 29, of Oakland, was fatally shot around 11:56 p.m. on Jan. 2, at the Kwik Serv gas station in the 2200 block of East 12th Street. Police say that Williams got into an Audi at the gas station and was attempting to drive away when another woman opened fire into the vehicle.

Williams drove a short distance and crashed the Audi, police said. She was pronounced at a hospital on the morning of Jan. 3, authorities said.

The Audi turned out to have been reported stolen out of San Francisco back in October, authorities said. Police have not disclosed the suspected motive or announced any arrests, and say the shooter left in a different vehicle.

Anyone with information about the killing may call police at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-7950. Anyone with videos or photos related to the shootings can email them to cidvideo@oaklandca.gov.
