An Oakland home owned by Tom Hanks’ Chabot College drama teacher, Herb Kennedy, has been listed for $1.799 million.

The home in the historic Clinton neighborhood was built in 1898 and has only had two owners in its lifespan. It also touts architectural details from an older period: interior wood paneling, built-ins and elegant banisters.

The 3,917-square-foot home includes six bedrooms, four baths and a carriage house. Other features are a spacious attic, basement for storage and a panic room. And outdoors, there is a mature garden and a greenhouse.

Hanks once gave a nod to his former drama teacher in an op-ed published by the New York Times in 2015 entitled “I Owe It All to Community College.”
